And somehow it's August...

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller
Ferris is a wise man, and it's been a minute since I posted. But we have been enjoying our summer playing golf and we took a relaxing vacation with friends. We're learning pickleball, spending time with family, and oh yeah....we're driving THE TRUCK!
She made her official debut early in June, and has about 800 miles on her already. Still no name, and I don't think that that will ever change.
She's running well though, and Kurt has been enjoying the ride.

She hasn't had her official photo shoot yet, but it's absolutely WILD how her color changes from different angles. The orange and black practically melt into each other in some lights. In other's, the lines are crystal clear.

Our youngest, Cole, has been brave enough to drive her. I, however, have not. Kurt has offered and asked when I plan to, but that day will not be soon. She scares me. And I'm scared of hurting her. Kurt is fully in love.
The joke over the course of this build has been that once she was done, she was going to look very pretty sitting in the garage.
(side note - the garage got a make-over to accommodate her, lol)
We could drive her to a restaurant, but we couldn't go in and eat because what if we can't see her and someone parks next to her??
We can't take her to the beach because we can't put anything in the beautiful carbon fiber bed.
If we take her to Road America, we won't see much because we'll be sitting in lawn chairs beside her...
I think I'm funny even if Kurt doesn't....
I get it. I do. Some people have little respect and touch things instead of just looking.
We do get oodles of attention when we do take her out though! Lots of heads spinning as they hear her coming, thumbs up, prolonged stares and shout-outs of appreciation. Kurt beams like a proud papa.
This is still very, very surreal, mind you. Kurt is a smart guy. Handy and patient. Creative even. But I continue to wrap my head around the fact that HE BUILT A TRUCK. He salvaged Old Blue's ugly frame & built an absolutely gorgeous truck. And all the parts work together like they should!! I mean....holy buckets. I get excited when I try something new for dinner and it turns out.

There will be more posts. There are stories to share and she still needs some love. Just yesterday, Kurt was tightening up a little gas leak. He has also been reading up on the transmission that came with the Coyote, and apparently, it's not a fan favorite. So he's been playing around there.
Here's the take away for the moment. Do you have a dream? Do you have a passion? Do you have a goal? It's attainable if you set your mind and heart to it.
Kurt's company was started with work experience, faith and drive.
This truck began with his almost 30 year desire to rebuild a vehicle of his own.
Kurt has no post-secondary education. If he doesn't know how to do something, he reads and teaches himself. He asks questions of those who do know. And most importantly, he doesn't give up. No one has handed him anything. He busts his tail. Mistakes and setbacks happen, he learns from them and continues on. That's the key.
So believe in yourself and your dreams and put in the effort. Life isn't "fair" or easy. But God gave us the tools we need. We just need to use those tools, stop thinking the world owes us something, and we can accomplish whatever we put our minds to.
